Brian Cadd may not be a household name today but at one point in his career he was a star and he brought that star energy with him tonight to The Studio in Cairns.
Havening been a working musician for 50 years he has a wealth of material from which to draw from and of course a host of stories as well and the audience were keen to lap it up with the venue virtually sold out.
With a new album Dream Train, Cadd has hit the road with a string of 19 dates across the country and tonight in Cairns Cadd celebrated the arrival of his new album to No. 1 on the Australian Country music charts a great success for anyone but especially someone of Cadd’s vintage.
The night started with Eye of a Hurricane of his album Silver City, Then he played one of his classics from his days with the band Axiom, Arkansas Grass.
Don’t you Know it’s Magic followed and then a medley of songs.
The night rolled along with stories of adventures through Australian rock n roll history and songs and whilst Cadd like most of his audience is a little older the energy was simply amazing.
Closing out with the classic a Little Ray of Sunshine to a standing ovation he skipped the faux encore remaining onstage to belt out one of the best rock n roll medley’s I have ever seen including The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison and a few others the literally had the crowd on their feet singing and clapping along like a rock n roll revival church…It was a sight to behold.
The music, the stories the graciousness of the man and the appreciation of the crowd made for an incredible night.
